The stroller canopy design is critical. While it may not seem that important in the ads or in the store, a poorly functioning sun-shade is a deal breaker. Babies are sensitive to direct sunlight and toddlers for that matter don't care to have the sun glaring directly into their eyes during your run. If this happens everyone will be unhappy.

The problem is that many canopies are not sufficiently adjustable to provide shade when the sun is at particularly low levels. This is an issue if you are accustomed to running late in the evening near sunset.

What to look for in a canopy...

Make sure to choose a stroller with a shade that is both large and adjustable to several positions. A good one will provide good coverage, shading your toddler's eyes and face allowing you to run at any time of day without compromising baby's health or comfort.


If you are considering a double, make sure both canopies are individually adjustable so that one munchkin can sleep in the shade while the other can look around if she's awake.



A neat feature to have in a sun shade is a peek window or moon roof. These are great because they allow youto watch your little one while you are running without having to stop and walk around to the front.

You are better off if the product is designed and sold with an adequate stroller canopy already built in. How many times have we seen parents with a towel draped over half of an inadequate canopy? Do your utmost to avoid this.

Of course, if the stroller you like has a small canopy, many manufacturers sell add-ons, however, we don't recommend this.
