The Mountain Buggy stroller is made in New Zealand and is growing in popularity. We are seeing more and more of these strollers (especially the Urban Double) around our neighborhood trails.

The Mountain Buggy stroller comes in two main models: the Terrain, and the Urban. The Terrain models have a fixed front wheel and a wire storage basket, while the Urban has a swivel front wheel and a fabric under-seat basket.

They are generally well constructed and are designed to be taken off road. Though the small wheels make them inappropriate for running, they are very durable and hold up well on bumpy trails or difficult surfaces like sand, gravel and grass.

We find the Mountain Buggy Stroller to be generally narrower than most competitor strollers which gives you more versatility and freedom when you are out shopping. We especially like the options that allow you to fit either competitor car seats or Mountain Buggy's own 'carry-cot' (bassinet) into the stroller.

We have two complaints about the Mountain Buggy strollers: the canopy and the tires. In our opinion, the canopies on almost all of the models do not provide quite enough coverage and you have to end up draping a towel over the stroller to prevent glare in the late afternoon. In addition, the canopies on the Urban Double are not independently retractable.

Also, we hear alot of complaints about frequent flat tires. Tires have to be pumped up after almost every walk. When asked about this, Mountain Buggy's response to customers is that the tires are imported! We are not sure if this is an apology or an explanation, but given the price tag on these strollers, it is a very strange comment. Anyway, sliming the tires before your first ride may help a bit.

Overall, Mountain Buggy is an above-average all-terrain stroller brand. If you are comfortable with the price tag, they are head and shoulders above the discount brands.
